Awww, Lawunmi & Ayo’s true & beautiful love story will make you giggle and smile. Theirs is a true love and their undying love for each other will give you butterflies in your stomach. Ayo and Lawunmi were childhood friends but they lost contacts when Ayo & his family moved out of the neighborhood. Lawunmi was the daughter Ayo’s mum never had. Some years later, Ayo relocated to Canada. Ayo didn’t give up on his first love and he began a thorough search for her on all the social media platforms, but unfortunately he didn’t find Lawunmi on any of them. He spent sleepless nights searching for her but he only saw people who bear the same surname with Lawunmi on the Internet. Ayo thought he had lost Lawunmi and was about given up when he googled her name and alas, he found his childhood crush he had been looking for on Linkedln. When Lawunmi got a message from Ayo, she was incredibly the happiest woman on earth.
You need to read their beautiful love story to feel the love, respect and passion they have for each other……Awwww, it is indeed a perfect timing!
How They Met
I knew Lawunmi as far back as I can remember. Our families became friends through friendship formed by my late older brother Tosin and her older brother Lanre. We were both about 3 years old around that time and I remember we became inseparable, so inseparable that anywhere we went we would hold hands. My mum always took us all out to her parties and would take Lawunmi along too, so most of the time we were always together. We attended the same primary school and would spend the whole break period together. We got so close to the point our parents started calling us husband and wife. We lived opposite each other back then so hooking up after school was quite easy.
I remember one day we were playing mummy and daddy and we kissed….she was my first kiss, and now she is my last kiss.
We lost contact when we moved from the neighborhood and life went by over the years. But about 3 years ago, I got this weird feeling to see her and thus began my search for my childhood crush. I searched every social media for her but never found her. (She didnt use her real name on the popular social media). I found a couple of people with her last name and eagerly messaged them. But sadly, it wasnt my Lawunmi. I had almost given up my search before it occurred that i hadn’t even googled her name. And my search proved fruitful. LinkedIn was the one place she used her real full name. As a sharp boy, I immediately sent her an invitation. Few days later I got an email from her expressing the same excitement building up inside me and that was how we reconnected.
Finally my search was over. Funny thing at that point was, we were both single. It was like perfect timing. Though I was in Canada and she in Nigeria, we spoke every day, we would speak for hours till late at night. After a while, I asked her to be my Girl. I knew she was different. It wasn’t long before I was convinced I had found my Eve and I wanted her forever.
I can tell you my mom was definitely excited when she got to know. Lawunmi is a gem I had to cross continents to find. She’s my peace and my heart. Cannot wait to start forever
Que sera sera….
Ayokunle is the most extraordinary guy I have ever met.
We have been family friends for as long as I can tell, age 3 I guess. Although I wasn’t into him as much as he was into me (childhood crush) but he made sure we became close. Always around each other, holding hands, acting out mummy and daddy. I was the daughter his mom never had, always following her to parties and outings. My mom didn’t mind as we would sometimes have sleepovers. It wasn’t long before they started referring to us as “husband and wife”. hmm…the power of the tongue. I hail o!
We lost contact in 1994 when they moved from the neighbourhood. I felt lonely at first but as a child, I moved on very quickly. But i never played “daddy and mummy” with any other boy. I soon forgot about the boy Ayokunle.
Days turned to months, months into years, with a few ugly frogs kissed here and there and 2013 found me single and not searching. Until one bright morning in April when I woke up to a friend request on LinkedIn from my childhood boyfriend. Wow! I was so excited to hear from him. I responded via mail, exchanged contacts and he called. We maintained constant communication as he wasn’t in Nigeria and he began to grow on me. My day wasn’t complete till I’d spoken with him. I guess I wasn’t surprised but extremely happy when he asked me to be his girl. And I didn’t think twice. An easy choice…LOL! And so I started dating the most wonderful and romantic man ever. I must say it wasn’t easy because it was a long distance relationship but my baby always made sure he was available 24/7. After 2 trips down to Nigeria to see me (and probably verify for himself what he’d heard on phone), it was a huge surprise that he poppeed the question a year after, asking me to be his woman forever.
It wasn’t the go-on-one-knee-will-you-marry-me usual cliché proposal but it was in our fav restaurant, on a nice cool evening, with a beautiful diamond ring and in the sweetest way I couldn’t have imagined. He made me shed a few tear drops sha….who wouldn’t??? His proposal was perfect and I cannot wait to start my life with him.
