Sewa and Tayo are dance partners! Tayo took the bold step to teach Sewa how to dance when he invited her to a gathering. Both of them have been dancing to the rhythmic tune of love; they have become good friends and literally inseparable. “It is not about what I want, what you want, what people want or what we want, It is about what God wants”, the charming groom-to-be said this romantic sentence to his lovely bride-to-be when he first asked her out to be his girlfriend. The lovely couple liked each other from the very first day they met. The feelings and love they share for each other is just so natural.
Even after they separated in their University days due to unforeseen circumstances, they still thought about each other every minute. The bond they share was too strong and they both knew they would come back to each other. And when that day finally came, they both did not hesitate, they danced their way back to a long lasting relationship.
Here they are right now, taking the bold step, sealing the bond and getting ready to make their love life official as they work down the aisle in a couple of months time.
Their beautiful pre-wedding shoot was captured by Kevin Awesome Photography. Enjoy the couple’s love story and romantic photos.
How We Met
I have always had eyes for him at a tender age,16 years to be precised (though it is mutual). My wishes came to pass the day he approached me to come and join his dance group. He told me ‘Sewa’ Will you like to dance with me? I have a gospel dance group in church; It was like winning a jackpot, I kept wondering how he knew my name!
My crush knew my name was what kept ringing in my head. I was overwhelmed, I couldn’t say NO; even though I wasn’t a great dancer. Laugh out loud. I joined the dance group and it was an awesome experience dancing together with other members. He would teach me how to dance and all, it was so overwhelming. One year after I finished secondary school, he came around to where we resided at the time and told me “it is not about what I want, what you want, what people want or what we want, It is about what God wants.” and then asked ‘Adesewa’ will you be my girlfriend? The question was just rhetoric, since we both knew very well the question was just to make it official. We knew we had strong feelings for each other. From that moment, we became inseparable.
That sweet experience however was cut short when he lost his mum some months after; he struggled a lot, it was a very bad situation dealing with the reality of being an orphan. He couldn’t handle the pressure.
I gained admission and left for school. He went back to school as well and we both started struggling with the relationship. So at that point, we both knew the best thing was to separate. It was really painful losing your first love at the time. However, we both moved on. Two years after, he came back, which was not a surprise to me because I have always known we would always find our way back into each other’s bosom because we’re like each other’s CRYPTONITE. He told me I just feel right and perfect for him. He begged for another chance. I told him Johnny, I will never forgive you if you leave me hanging again.
We danced that night and he dedicated a Shania Twain song, STILL THE ONE to us. We took a few drinks and made a toast to a long lasting relationship.
It has been five years since that night and we are still counting and waxing stronger. I have always loved him and it feels mutual which I believe is the most amazing thing- to love and be loved. We understand each other so much. He makes me understand the word BEST FRIEND in a different and unique way.
Some days before November 15, 2014 which was the day he proposed, he made me plan my own proposal without knowing what I was doing. I told him I wanted to hang out, that I was getting bored at that point in time; he said no problem and obliged my request. A few days later, he called to tell me his friend wanted to celebrate his new car with us together with his fiancée. That was how we headed to Lekki lake leisure for a boat cruise, the four of us on the water. A few minutes later, his friend brought out a lovely cake, while his fiancée gave me a bible and before I could wrap my head around what is happening, he was on his knee already and asked ‘Adesewa’ will you be my wife and dance with me forever?’ Tearfully saying YES was my best feeling ever. I screamed Yessssss! Here we are, a year after, we are still going strong, planning our wedding due in 6 weeks. So happy we get to have the chance to keep dancing in each other’s heart just like how we started.
